What is this place?

We get this a lot. We're a local, Chicago-based retailer specializing in new and vintage mid-century modern furniture and home decor.

Is everything vintage?

We offer a revolving mix of new modern and refinished vintage furniture. All of our upholstery pieces are custom made unless otherwise noted. Occasionally we will also feature upholstered vintage items.

How can I see new vintage pieces as they arrive?

We post newly finished vintage pieces on social media as they arrive. Follow us @districtchicago to see the latest!

Let us know if there's a specific vintage piece you're on the hunt for and we can keep an eye out for you.

Can I buy the floor model?

Short answer: maybe! Certain items are special order only. We focus on keeping our collection fresh so we're often selling items directly off the floor to make room for new. Ask us if a piece you see on the floor can come home with you today. If you are on a time crunch we can source options from our vendors with quick turnaround times.

Do you offer payment plans?
I need furniture but don't know where to start. Can you help?

Absolutely! Bring your paint swatches, vision board, dreams, measurements, icks, must-haves, dealbreakers, chic uncle, Tinder date, dog, newborn, ex-wife, spiritual leader, or just you and we'll get started.

Whether you're going for a home refresh or decorating your first apartment we're excited to help you create a space you love.

What if I don't see what I'm looking for in the store?

Our storefront is only the beginning of what we can source from our vendors. Tell us what you're looking for and we'll do our best to help you find it!

My dog loves MCM design. Can they come shop with me?

Dogs are welcome! Please stay leashed and keep paws off the furniture. We offer T-R-E-A-Ts and belly rubs with your dog's permission.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! Gift cards can be purchased online or in-store. Virtual gift cards are available online in a variety of denominations and can be emailed directly to the recipient with a custom message. Physical gift cards can only be purchased in store at this time.

Do you price match?

Yes, show us where a lower price is offered and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Pickup & Delivery

Do you offer local delivery?

White Glove Delivery

We are happy to help you coordinate delivery with one of our white glove delivery partners. These companies will pick up your item(s) from us, securely wrap them, and place them exactly where you want within your home. They also offer assembly and removal of old items for an additional fee.

These professional services are fully insured and offer flexible delivery options including weekends. Pricing varies depending on your location and the scale of the delivery. Customers are responsible for payment directly to the delivery company.

Curbside Delivery

If you live near the store, curbside delivery is available for a $25 flat fee on Mondays and Fridays from 9:30am - 4:00pm.

Our delivery zone covers North to Howard St., East to Lake Michigan, South to Irving Park Rd., and West to Western Ave.

The $25 delivery fee is paid directly to the driver via cash, Venmo, or Zelle.

IMPORTANT:

  • Curbside delivery means your items are brought to the curb outside your address. Please ensure you have proper support for getting the items into your home as our drivers cannot assist with lifting or carrying.
  • District is not liable for any injuries or damage that occur once the items are delivered to your curb.
  • Extra large or heavy pieces may not be eligible for curbside delivery due to the size constraints of our van and limitations of our team.

Can I pick up my furniture order?

Yes! For large pieces we recommend hiring a professional delivery company to protect your investment but you're welcome to coordinate pickup on your own. Advanced notice is required to ensure your items are ready and a member of our team is available. Please contact us to schedule a pickup.

Keep the following in mind when planning your order pickup:

  • Make sure you have the muscle power (bring help!) and space to load the items into your vehicle. For safety reasons, our team may not be able to assist with loading your items.
  • Bring blankets, tape, and other wrapping materials to protect your items in transit.
  • Furniture and large items must be picked up within 72 hours of purchase or special order arrival notification.
  • Need more time? Short term storage may be available for $10/day or $50/week until the order has been picked up. Contact us to confirm availability.

Can my furniture be delivered directly to my home from the vendor?

Most vendors require a commercial address with a loading dock and do not offer home delivery.

We cover the cost of delivery from the vendor to us. It is our practice to inspect every piece upon delivery for flaws or damage so we can resolve any issues with the vendor before it reaches your door.

Please inquire with us if you're looking for a direct shipment. Depending on the vendor and location, direct delivery may be available for an additional fee. Many customers also use uShip to coordinate delivery outside of the Chicago metro area.

Orders & Returns

When will I get my order?

Small Items & Accessories

We are a small team but we work quickly to fulfill your online orders as soon as possible. Orders are processed Monday - Friday and shipped within 5 days of purchase. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Please reach out if you haven't received an email confirmation with tracking information after 7 days.

Delivery times vary depending on your location. Please note, once a shipping label is printed, it may take up to 24+ hours to see movement on the carrier's website.

Furniture & Special Orders

Lead times for special orders will be quoted at time of purchase. Please note these are estimates from the vendor and are subject to change. We will notify you of any delays or changes to the expected arrival time of your items. Feel free to reach out with any questions on the status of your order.

What is your return policy?

Our goal is for every customer to be completely satisfied with their purchase.

Eligible items may be exchanged or returned for store credit within 30 days of purchase. To qualify for return your item must be in the same condition that you received it and proof of purchase is required.

Exchanges may also be made by mail for online orders. Please note, if you would like to exchange an item by mail, additional shipping fees may apply.  

Customers are responsible for return shipping of online purchases. Contact us at info@districtchicago.com to initiate an online return.

All vintage and special orders are final sale.

Damages & Issues

Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is damaged or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right! 

In the event an item arrives damaged or defective, contact us right away so we can evaluate the issue and make it right!  For online orders, please include your order number and photos of the damage.

Do you buy pre-owned furniture?

We're always on the hunt for unique midcentury modern furniture and accessories. If you're looking to sell something that matches District's style, please send pictures and information via our Resale Inquiry Form.

We purchase items outright and do not operate on a consignment basis.

Please note that phone calls or visits to the store will be directed to complete the form.

Who do I contact about selling my products in your store or collaborating on an event?

Artists, wholesalers, and anyone else looking to partner with District can contact info@districtchicago.com to get the conversation started.

Do you rent furniture for set design and staging?

In stock items are available for rent. The full price of the item will be charged at pickup. Once the item is returned and inspected, the full price will be refunded minus a 30% rental fee.
