District started as a hobby for me

I had a knack for turning old, run-down pieces of furniture into beautiful pieces that made great additions to my home. I did this for years until one day I realized that I should be doing this full time—that I needed to be doing this full time. It was what truly made me happy.  Starting in my garage in 2010,  I went to work daily, finding items and meticulously restoring them.  Often times I would give them a paint makeover—these painted pieces seemed to get the most attention.

After a couple of years, I moved out of my garage and into a small workshop with an attached showroom.  I was now able to showcase the finished pieces properly and not in my little, dirty garage.

Within a few years I was ready for the next step and on March 13, 2015 District the storefront opened its doors.

Today we remain not only a place that offers quality home furnishings, but a place for the community as well. We host monthly events, feature local artists and also partner with talented designers to offer in home services.

I met Chris years ago from an artist invite to a collaboration show they were having and I instantly fell in love with Mid Century Modern Furniture. Chris is my absolute go to when I’m looking for pizzaz for my home (or what we call showroom District 2.0). It’s been so rewarding to watch his business grow and flourish into a shop where our local community can appreciate his picking perfection!

I’ve never felt better in supporting a local business. Chris has an fantastic eye and his prices are very reasonable, but the thing that really puts the whole experience over the top is that he’s such an incredible person. You can tell that he loves what he does, along with everyone who works in the shop, so its always just a pleasure when we get to buy something new at District.

I fell in love with Chris’ stuff back in his Craigslist days, and I haven’t turned back yet.
He’s furnished half our house.
Through the process of going back to District again and again, we’ve come to think of Chris as family.
He’s our go-to for all things mid-mod.
